Redbreast — One for the Birds

Redbreast — One for the Birds

The tradition of keeping the bottle is a marvellous exercise. Any act of converting the disposable into a trinket or keepsake has to be considered worthy.

If cracking open a bottle of something special is a way of marking an occasion – the birth of a child, the union of marriage, a graduation – then surely retaining the bottle is to retain the memory. Not just in thought, but in taste, smell and touch. There is something special about rescuing a would-be single-use vessel from the landfill and imbibing it with sentiment. We are quite literally bottling a memory. But what if our newly sentimental ornament could also be repurposed to the benefit of the natural world?

In the spirit of giving back to nature, Redbreast Irish Whiskey is launching a limited-edition copper whiskey casing that neatly transforms into a beautiful bird feeder. Following the launch of a partnership with BirdLife International earlier this year, €15 for every limited-edition Redbreast 12 Year Old purchased will support Redbreast’s and BirdLife International’s mission to keep common birds common.

An intricately designed shell encases the bottle of Redbreast 12 Year-Old. Once removed from the bottle, the casing can be filled with bird feed and hung in the garden. The bird feeder enables whiskey fans to sit back and enjoy a warming drink in the comfort of their own home while watching the birds have their fill as well.

“After much anticipation, we are extremely excited to launch the beautifully crafted whiskey casing that has been specially designed to double up as a bird feeder. We worked closely with BirdLife International to ensure the bird feeder honours our mission of helping to protect not only Robins, but all common birds, as we move into the colder months and food begins to become scarce. We are thrilled to provide this at no additional cost to Redbreast fans across the globe and simultaneously further support the work of BirdLife International by donating €15 for each limited edition bottle sold”

Redbreast has given new meaning to the phrase “for the birds”. In fact, they’ve turned it on its head completely. When you raise a glass of Redbreast whiskey, you’ll be toasting something more powerful than sentiment. It will be for the birds.

The limited edition Redbreast 12 Year Old with copper bird feeder casing is available at the price of €60 (£50) from all good whiskey retailers. Find out more about the bird feeder and the partnership between Redbreast Irish Whiskey and BirdLife International at www.birdlife.org.
