MARGARITA | 70th Anniversary by Cointreau

MARGARITA | 70th Anniversary by Cointreau

There is nothing better to kick-start the summer than an urban escape, a local treat that can recreate the memories of an idyllic summer getaway, and as such this collaboration between Cointreau and South Place Hotel to celebrate the 70thAnniversary of the Margarita is a timely masterpiece.

Arguably the most exciting — or dangerous — aspect of the collaboration from a hotel residents perspective, is the red phone or “Margarita Hotline” as I have called it, which enables guests to order their chosen margarita variant at any time of the day via phone.

I say dangerous as having witnessed the “refreshing nature” of the three Cointreau margarita variants first hand, the urge request another would be hard to resist; all part of the allure that has made this iconic drink a firm favourite over the last 70 years.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Margarita, Cointreau has created three special variants; a lavender Margarita, a fruity twist or a citrus chai Margarita— all perfectly suited to alfresco drinking in the sunshine.

“Our mixologists are looking forward to present South Place Hotel’s takes on the Margarita and serve it alongside everyone’s favourite classic liqueur.”

~ Kamil Winnicki, Bar Manager, South Place Hotel

The location for the Cointreau pop-up is the Secret Garden hidden on the first floor of South Place Hotel— a veritable oasis of waterfalls and palm trees with a retractable roof to cater for the temperamental British weather. The venue South Place Hotel has to take plaudits for its contribution to the whole margarita experience. A discreet gem of a five-star hotel, its modern eclecticism coupled with artistic elements lends itself perfectly to margarita experience.

“A Margarita without Cointreau is not worth its salt” ~ Margarita Sames

As I stepped into my Cointreau Black cab at the end of the night, I couldn’t help but feel like I’d just landed back in the country, “fresh” from my journey to Latin America. I almost expected the cab driver to ask “How was your holiday?” to which my reply would have been “I’ll let you know when it’s finished” as I stepped out the cab, and headed back to the garden for one last margarita.

The Margarita Loves Cointreau pop-up will be at Secret Garden in the South Place Hotel, from June 29th until the end of August 2018.
