Continually committed to perfection, Dom Pérignon have unveiled the first Plénitude of their latest vintage in the form of the immaculate Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004 champagne; an offering enhanced by an avant-garde collaboration with the noted Dutch fashion designer, Iris van Herpen.
For the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004, van Herpen has created the exclusive Cocoonase design piece that encapsulates the metamorphosis each immaculate vintage undergoes in their lifespan. An organic and complex structure crafted in a dark green, stone-like material, Cocoonase reflects two key facets behind the creation of each Dom Pérignon vintage: time and evolution.
With its fossil-like forms it hints at the history in each bottle and the ongoing transition of the liquid contained within.
A recess inside the design allows the housing of a Dom Pérignon bottle, enabling the vessel to act not only as an investment in sculptural form, but also as a receptacle for the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004. Each Cocoonase piece is made-to-order via the Dom Pérignon website, with availability until December 2014 only, drawing a parallel with the exclusivity of the first Plénitude. In total, three Plénitudes of the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004 will be released in the lifetime of the wine, each undergoing a longer maturation than the last – the second, sixteen years, the third, twenty-five; each expression evolving in flavour, undergoing metamorphosis.
In addition to the unique abstract form, van Herpen also lends her design sensibilities to the green-hued gift boxes and bottles of the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004, reflecting further the organic changes occurring in the wine as it develops. The Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004 is a new pinnacle in the labels craft, celebrating both its immediate availability and the metamorphosis it now undergoes in to the second Plénitude. Celebrated appropriately in the collaboration with van Herpen, the ongoing metamorphosis of the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004 continues.
