Luxury British lifestyle brand House of Hackney is renowned for their ostentatious prints, and for the Spring Summer 2016 collection, they have returned for a second collaboration with William Morris.
Asked by Wiliam Morris Gallery to reimagine his works for a new generation, House of Hackney founders Frieda and Javvy chose key prints from the William Morris archive and instilled in them a bold, new lease of life. Acanthus, Chrysanthemum and Trellis prints, selected for their intertwining folige motifs, formed the crux of a collection inspired by nature at its best.
The natural world remains to be of great inspiration to House of Hackney as it did for William Morris during the 19th century.
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
~ William Morris
To further reinforce the House of Hackney touch, Frieda and Javvy played with scales and repeats, making the range appreal to an audience that, while being design traditionalists, favour a cotemporary aesthetic.
The first installment of the House of Hackney x Wiliam Morris SS16 collection is available online and in store from late February 2016.
