Casely-Hayford Autumn Winter 2018

The concept of the uniform has long been defined how men should dress. While London style has taken many forms over time, with Sartorial composition dominating for long periods. It has always kept the ability to re-invent none the less – while still building on the core foundations of the male wardrobe. Yet it feels in the current climate, adaptability and juxtaposing sporting structures are more relevant. It is as if we are entering a state of normality where your choice of outfit is relative to mood, tasks at hand and environment. This notion of street and formality is evident in Casely-Hayford’s Autumn Winter 2018 Collection.

Creative Director Joe Casely-Hayford tells the story of this young man who he saw two days in a row walking down the street; what is so fascinating about this man was not his uniform walking pattern, but the diversity in his attire. Joe describes the contrast of lux and street while also touching on his distinctive stride and posture. This guy’s characteristics then soon became the inspiration for the forthcoming collection.

Set behind the back drop of structural objects, the lookbook sets the tones with its clean bright hues and contrasting shadows The fusion of sport and formality engulf the collection with its unpredictability in textures, shapes and fit. Future fabrics like Neoprene then make appearances alongside heritage fabrics like Alpacca – while the shape of each look is unpredictable. High waisted, wide trousers redirect the wearer to be free in the combination of oversized outwear. Assisting not only with aesthetical ease but also functional wear.
