Havana Club —The Icónica Collection
Havana Club uses an interesting word when describing its role in the world—a custodian of Cuban rum.
They see themselves not as mere makers of an alcoholic beverage, but as a protector of something far more difficult to bottle. Rum is an island spirit in both meanings of the word. It begets visions of paradise, of piracy. It is a symbol of Cuba’s staunch rebellion against all who have tried to break her. More than any other drink, it might be argued, it represents adventure.
With five decades of storied experience, Havana Club brings to us a new era of prestige rum. This exquisite range of extra-aged and rare rums, enhanced with an elegant, contemporary design, represents the pinnacle of Havana Club’s portfolio, and symbolises the finest examples of Cuban excellence.
Expressions
Havana Club Selección de Maestros holds the strongest ABV in the Icónica range.
This exceptional expression, collectively crafted and approved by Havana Club’s Maestros del Ron Cubano, is distinguished by its warm amber hue and deep red glow. The new design of the bottle is inspired Havana’s citified sunrays and interlinking ironwork, symbolising the collaborative process whereby the Maestros meticulously select only the finest barrels for bottling.
Aged for a minimum of 15 years, Havana Club Gran Reserva Añejo 15 Años is the sole age-statement product in the collection. The new bottle, featuring enveloping patterns that evoke the softness of the rum, pairs with its rich mahogany colour, highlighting its bright, full-bodied taste.
Heading up the collection is the pinnacle of Cuban Rum, Havana Club Máximo Extra Añejo of which a maximum of 1,000 bottles are produced annually. Presented in an ethereal crystal decanter, this incredibly rare expression was revamped last year, paving the way for a new image across the entire portfolio. The rum’s deep amber glow, enhanced by extra ageing, is showcased through a design which emphasises both opulence and sustainability with its significantly reduced plastic components. The updated design also introduces wooden stoppers in place of traditional screw caps for that authentic pirate pop.
