There is nothing wrong with dreaming, after all why else do we work? The dream serves as the fuel to reify your daily exertions, and make sure that you actually bring them to fruition.
One such dream is the Ammoudi House In Zakynthos by Katerina Valsamaki Architects, whose simple yet ultramodern design gives you a glimpse into your potential abode for the future. Designed for a small family and their guests as a vacation house, almost every room has a view of the sea, with the vacuous open interior and floor-to-ceiling glazed windows drawing you closer to the scene outdoors.
The area has nothing vernacular but mainly summer dwelling sand hotels built amongst the beautiful natural landscape by the sea.
The 2.5 acre plot is located in the summer village Ammoudi on the northeast corner of the Island of Zakynthos and hidden from the street using intelligent integration with the low vegetation, densely planted vineyards and olive trees.
The house is composed of three low volume sections following the gentle natural slope of the site and its height gradually increases from the road into the plot. This composition reduces the impact of the building volume on the natural and the built environment, since the long composition of the house is never perceived at once.
The guest room can be used as an office, and with digital connectivity being widespread, and the rise of virtual meetings, I guess it doesn’t have to just be a holiday home now, does it.
