UNSCENT: Communicating Art Perfumery

UNSCENT: Communicating Art Perfumery

The 21st – 24th  March 2013 saw Fragments of the emerging olfactory scene, present the international olfactory scene of Art Perfumery with installations and project rooms, in the historic surroundings of Palazzo Morando in via S. Andrea 6, in the heart of Milan’s fashion district. The name of the event, by using its negative form, seeks to communicate the world of perfume without perfume, activating a programme of research on the invisibility of essences in the context of the world that inspires them. Celso Fadelli is thus creating a new concept for communicating the world of perfumery research by devising an emotional platform which, under the artistic direction of Cristiano Seganfreddo, entirely involves the visitor.

Following a path through art installations and olfactory rooms created by fifteen brands of perfumery, through the rooms on the ground floor, the visitor is guided through an experimental crescendo between art and fashion which ends in the lounge area in front of the internal garden. Special projects include a Video Olfactory Room by Diane Pernet, one of the world’s most important fashion icons, a room designed by Sacré Nobi, a Japanese artist based in New York who has created a perfume inspired by Michelangelo’s sculpture “La Pietà”, and the works of Yusuke Nishimura on light and invisibility, a guiding image of UNSCENT; and last but not least a room dedicated to a unique experience with Alessandro Gualtieri, the ingenious originator of Nasomatto. There will also be a national preview presentation of the novel Re Profumo.

The UNSCENT exhibition event is marked by a special limited edition catalogue, published by Flaneur&Dust, a precious cameo containing olfactory and visual fragments of UNSCENT and its leading personalities.

Celso Fadelli, distinguished editor of art fragrances, founder and CEO of Intertrade Europe Group, is constantly exploring new aspects of perfumery, seeking out all its hidden exceptional qualities, arriving at the alchemy of transforming genuine editorial projects into a scent bottle. Intertrade Europe follows the most sought- after brands of art perfumery with differing characteristics and a single guiding principle: the high quality of craft essence – acknowledging the time that “masterpiece” fragrances require, creating a niche market capable of regarding products as true works of art, the product of a manual creativity that is unique in the world. From Acqua di Stresa to Byredo, Boadicea The Victorious and Bond No.9, from I Love NY to The Hype Noses, or from Czech&Speake to S4P and Nasomatto.

A strong development of the concept that unites art and perfumery, a clear action of scouting that has brought about the discovery of brands led by young artists: Agonist, Andrea Maack Parfums, Blood Concept and Six Scents. A ceaseless search for hidden truths which has led to the discovery and launch of the fascinating lost fragrance of the young John Fitzgerald Kennedy: Eight & Bob.

The UNSCENT experience included among its protagonists:
