There are few in the world of design more adept at creating fluid animations and 3D graphics than Design & Motion Studio ManvsMachine. Recently acquired by Landor 1 to be part of their strategic brand consulting portfolio, ManvsMachine was founded in London by designers Mike Alderson and Tim Swift. Since their inception, they have been the creative voice behind multiple global campaigns; in recent years for clients that include Audi, Microsoft, Honda – and Nike. Having worked on a variety of projects for the sporting behemoth, they decided to celebrate their 10th anniversary (so to speak) with a typically aesthetic project. In their words:
“Ten is a print series to mark our 10th major project with the fine folk at Nike.”
Based in London ManvsMachine have picked up numerous industry awards for its work in design, film, and branding. In addition to winning two Cannes Gold Lions in 2013 and 2014 and seven further silver and bronzes, they more recently received the much-coveted Black Pencil for “ground-breaking creative excellence” at the 2015 D&AD Awards for Film4’s new idents.
Each piece of artwork in the TEN print series features design cues from previous projects with Nike. From the Nike Air Max Day 2015 and LeBron XIII basketball trainer campaign, to the Flyknit Lunar3 running shoe and Hypervenom football boot; each are represented in the guise of orange and blue by artwork coded with graphical inferences to the projects they represent.
