Auction: 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Aerodinamico

Auction: 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Aerodinamico

Mention the name Ferrari, and the optimist in me likes to think that rather than one of the current crop of concept-come-reality-£1000-per-day-car-hire Ferraris, something more like the car pictured above would come to mind: the Ferrari 400 Superamerica Aerodynamico. If I’m correct then you’ll be pleased to hear that one such vehicle (pictured below) is up for auction, and not quite so pleased to hear that it’s expected to go for a price in the region of £2.5million ($3.6 USD) as touted by seasoned auction house RM Sotheby’s.

The beauty about Ferrari 400 Superamerica Aerodynamico is that each one was built specially for their first owner and hence no two of them are exactly alike. This means that if (when) you get your hands on one, you know well and truly you are the owner of something unique, a piece of Ferrari history. Designed by Pininfarina, this car is symbolic of Ferrari’s tradition of custom-built supercars.
