Avión Tequila
Cristalino Clear
In the past decade, tequila has enjoyed a much deserved boost of image. Gone are the days where a shot of tequila was a grimly tolerated steppingstone towards getting “blackout blotto”.
Tequila is one of Mexico’s most famous – or infamous – exports, but this newfound prestige may have something to do with broader recognition of the nuanced quality of Mexico’s gifts to the world. This is the country of Frida Kahlo, Chichen Itza and Octavio Paz, after all. It is a civilisation founded by some of the first people to map the stars and derive chocolate from the cacao pods. It is no wonder that Mexico’s very own Rivieras are cropping up all along its golden coast – complete with Michelin star restaurants manned by chefs completely revolutionising the culinary world. And they aren’t simply adapting the French or Italian masters’ techniques either. They are harnessing flavour in ways only those imbibed with knowledge of the landscape’s terpenes can.
This collective push towards global prestige has naturally been championed by the tequila makers and amongst those champions, Avión Tequila stands loud and proud at the front of the vanguard. Avión tequila is tapping into the soaring demand for prestige tequila by expanding its exclusive Reserva range with the launch of Avión Reserva Cristalino – the second release to join the Avión Reserva line-up.
Distilled in the highlands of Jalisco using mature, hand-selected agave grown at the highest elevations, Avión Reserva Cristalino is crafted with blend of the finest 12-month-old Añejo and a touch of 3-year-old Extra Añejo Reserva. The resulting nectar then undergoes double-charcoal filtration to achieve a clear tequila of uncanny smoothness. The way the distillers are able to pluck the most desired traits of different expressions of tequila ensures Avión Reserva Cristalino will appeal to both Blanco and Añejo aficionados alike.
Xavier Zamudio, Brand Manager for Avión, says:
“Through the introduction of Avión Reserva Cristalino, we have crafted a tequila that pays homage to every step in our production process – from field to bottle – showcasing the uniqueness of our terroir, the character of our agave, the purity of our distillation and the delicate relationship with wood during ageing.”
