“Why is it that the Bond villains always seem to have the nicest pads? What about the good guys…?” Just one of the many questions I ponder as I cast my eyes over another concept masterpiece by Alex Hogrefe. Yes, unfortunately it is a concept – for the time being at least. Alex is a designer and founding member of Design Distill, an architecture visualization studio, and in his past time he likes to create new concepts from scratch. One such example is the Iceland Cliffside retreat.
The open concrete structure is complemented by steel and glass with large floor-to-ceiling windows, a key common all-round to take advantage of the main attraction – the incredible view. Natural light provides the artistry with the patterns on the concrete walls that change with the motion of the sun. Should you choose, you can visit the balcony protruding from cliff edge, bringing you even closer to the sea.
Who knows, maybe can “convince” Alex to make this concept a reality; the world will feel better just knowing that a place like this exists.
