It’s a wonderful feeling when things that can’t be taken for granted, are realised exactly as you imagine — or even better perhaps.

Those symphonic moments where everything comes together in a way that even the most ardent optimist wouldn’t have envisioned. That’s how I imagine the teams of esteemed gun maker Holland & Holland and Overfinch must have felt when they unveiled the fruits of their collaboration.

The idea for the two British marques coming together is not a new one, with the brands collaborating on a L322 Range Rover in 2009. That said, the approach is new, with the brands committing to a five-year partnership, announced at the end of 2024. At the time, Chairman and CEO of Overfinch Kevin Sloane outlined their promise to create “ambitious statements of automotive luxury” and it appears they have achieved exactly that with this new Holland & Holland Edition by Overfinch.

Deemed the most luxurious Range Rover ever built, they took no risks of falling short of that claim, with almost every surface embellished and adorned in some way, bringing new story and life to an automotive favourite. Based on the Holland & Holland flagship ‘Royal’ Side by Side shotgun, these embellishments are very much in line with their ethos; intricate, detailed and precise.

“Perfectly realised by the talented craftspeople of Overfinch, and further adorned by Holland & Holland’s own master artisans, this edition is a truly distinguished homage to our flagship ‘Royal’ Side by Side shotgun.”

Michael Ray-Jones, Head of Marketing, Holland & Holland

Engineered by Overfinch on the Range Rover SV platform and with only twenty-five models to be made, it gave both brands the remit to go all out and create something that is as much a work of art as it is multi-function vehicle — and I don’t use that term lightly. From the champagne coolers to the exquisite rear chests offering storage for your Holland & Holland shotguns and shooting accessories, there is a sincerity to the execution of the partnership that cannot be denied. In the cavernous boot there is also room for a custom dining set and fine glassware, suitable for entertaining eight people.

A duet of open-pore French walnut veneer and Bridge of Weir leather, the interior sees an embroidered tapestry unfold across seats and doors, embellished with golden inlays, enamel badging and Holland & Holland monograms.

There is space for two shotguns to be securely kept beneath a figured walnut insert bearing a distinguished Holland & Holland plaque, while the rear of the drawer houses eight whisky tumblers and two decanters, arranged on either side of a pair of substantial pewter hipflasks, fittingly crafted in the form of shotgun cartridges.

As for the exterior, the finish is elegant yet subtly ostentatious, featuring imposing twenty-three-inch multi spoke alloys with an “H&H” hallmarked self-levelling centre cap to give the vehicle a graceful appearance in motion.

The colour of this launch model is a historically respectful British Racing Green, however owners will be able to choose their finish and have a selection of three bespoke interior palettes to choose from, each option blending London Tan and Harris Green, giving owners the freedom to tailor the character of their vehicle.

“There is a rare synergy when two icons unite. The Holland & Holland Edition is more than a vehicle; it is a true statement of craftsmanship, quality and distinction. Together, we have created a Range Rover that embodies British excellence in every sense.”

Kevin Sloane, Chairman and CEO, Overfinch

As Holland & Holland celebrate their 190th year they have provided a fitting tribute to their legacy and a suggestion of their future in a vehicle that showcases the very best in British craftsmanship. The result is a vehicle that transcends generations and will no doubt be a collector’s edition. It’s early days, but I’m confident in saying that first release in the new Holland & Holland and Overfinch partnership has gone very well — perhaps even better than they expected.
