Simplified

To understand the nature of bespoke is to understand the nature of Rolls-Royce.

In truth, every Rolls-Royce that leaves the Goodwood factory is bespoke, the plethora of choices available meaning that no two Rolls-Royces leave the same. It’s not just about custom trims, or seating fabric choice; every element from the starlit headliner to the weight of carpet has options, and hence, choices to be made. The choices themselves could be very unique, or complex but they could also be as simple as a change of colour.

But as with many things at Rolls-Royce, there are many levels of bespoke, levels that vary depending on multiple factors; the imagination of the client, the time they are willing to wait for their creation and how much they want to be involved in the process. Typically these processes range from one to three years, but could be as short as eight to ten months.

The resulting works of these top-level bespoke projects are aptly named masterpieces, curated with clients that have the extraordinary vision—and the required means—to bring the project to life.

“Bespoke is about personalisation, it’s about speaking with the clients about what they want to have”

Martina Starke, Head of Bespoke Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

One such example is the Pearl Cullinan, a car commissioned by a family to give as a birthday gift to the father. This vehicle was quite literally imbued with mother of pearl; just the picnic table veneer alone used 1351 different pieces of mother of pearl. The why? Well, not only does the client love mother of pearl, but it’s the very source of the family fortune, making the car both tribute and a reward. Not only is it inherently valuable, but intimately meaningful.

This spring Rolls-Royce took the role of a client; curating a poetic series of highly Bespoke cars based around the emotion of Spring. Each Rolls-Royce Bespoke not only serves as a chance to own an exclusive edition signed off by the brand themselves, but a source of inspiration for future bespoke clients; a reminder of what is possible.

The Pearl Cullinan, 2023

For me Spring has always been a season of hope, a time of year when optimism arises anew with the lengthening days and a floral tapestry that grows ever more resplendent as the months proceed. Grass is mown, coats are withdrawn, and outdoor living once again becomes viable. I am of course speaking from a British perspective; an Isle where the weather is never far from the topic of conversation.

“Spring is a moment of celebration in cultures around the world. It is associated with youth and romance, the return of light and warmth after the darkness of winter. Its joyous transformation is swift and fleeting, which makes it all the more precious.”

Martina Starke, Head of Bespoke Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Faced with a more exacting brief than I set for my ethereal musings, Rolls-Royce found a tangible way of capturing nature’s transition; an eponymous series of three cars. This bespoke Spectre collection is inspired by “Primavera”, named after the Italian word for Spring.

Each of the cars has features that evoke the feelings of the season: delicate, uplifting, and alive with promise. One such feature is a hand painted Coachline motif, featuring a cherry branch in bloom. A larger statement feature is the 23-inch alloy wheels, a debut design reflecting a flower in bloom.

A recurring reference, cherry blossom details can be found punctuating the interior, from illuminated treadplates bearing the Spectre Inspired by Primavera name, to the embroidered floral headrests, and a magical Blackwood centrepiece etched with an expansive, blossoming cherry bough motif.

Spectre Inspired by Primavera celebrates spring in three distinct artistic expressions: Evanescent embodies the fleeting beauty of wildflowers with Turchese accents and an Arctic White finish, Reverie sings a song of serenity and renewal with a Duck Egg Blue exterior, contrasted with a calm interior of Grace White and Charles Blue leather; while Blossom shows spring’s brilliant side with a Velvet Orchid Metallic exterior, floral motifs, and a vibrant cabin blending Grace White leather and Peony Pink highlights.

Turning motor cars into art has always been Rolls-Royce’s speciality, and in these new seasonal series editions the marque shows a poetic side to their craftsmanship, one undergirded by the symphonic movement of the world’s most elegant electric car. In my opinion it is anyway.

The three different expressions of Spectre Inspired by Primavera Bespoke series— Evanescent, Reverie and Blossom—are available to commission now for delivery before spring 2026.
